UPWORK reported fiscal year 2021 executive compensation information on April 19, 2022.
In 2021, three UPWORK executives received on average a compensation package of $13M, a 410% increase compared to previous year.

Hayden Brown, Chief Executive Officer, received $35M in total, which increased by 4,015% compared to 2020. 82% of Brown's compensation, or $29M, was in option awards. Brown also received $995K in non-equity incentive plan, $500K in salary, $4.6M in stock awards, as well as $7.7K in other compensation.
For fiscal year 2021, the median employee pay was $219,635 at UPWORK. Therefore, the ratio of Hayden Brown's pay to the median employee pay was 159 to one.
Jeff McCombs, Chief Financial Officer, received a compensation package of $2.7M, which decreased by 47% compared to previous year. 60% of the compensation package, or $1.7M, was in stock awards.
Eric Gilpin, Chief Sales Officer, earned $1.5M in 2021, a 9% decrease compared to previous year.
